The CASA-1000 Community Support Project is improving energy supply in 77 villages in Osh, Batken, and Jalal-Abad Oblasts, which fall under the Transmission Line Corridor of Impact. The installation work has now started in Jalal-Abad Oblast.
Under Project’s Subcomponent 1A:
- 53 target villages decided to improve the existing energy infrastructure through investment subgrants.
- 22 villages chose the extension of rural power networks; and
- 2 villages prioritize new street lighting.
The scope of work of Subcomponent 1A has been divided into two rounds, and Round-1 in Osh and Jalal-Abad Oblasts has been completed, with Batken Oblast completed for 60%. The installation of street lighting for two villages in Batken Oblast is fully completed.
The increasing demand for the construction of new energy networks has been driven by the growing residential settlements in the region. To meet this demand, the local population has requested the expansion of energy networks in their respective areas.
On March 7th of this year, the installation work began in Kok Bulak village, Kyz Kol AO, and Kok Bulak, Kyzyl Tuu AO of Suzak Rayon, Jalal-Abad Oblast, to extend rural networks as part of Round-2 of Subcomponent 1A "Support for electricity improvement in target villages."
