ARIS supports the development of agricultural value chains in Kyrgyzstan through the RED Project
Head of the country office of the World Bank in Bishkek Hugh Riddle, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the KR M. Duisheyev, ARIS Executive Director M. Naspekov and others familiarized the results of the implementation of one of the key components of the project - Strengthening Agri-Food Supply Chains and SMEs. The project is implemented by the Community Development and Investment Agency with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic with financial support from the World Bank.
During the working travel, they visited the cooperative Eldik Tech-Service which is engaged in the development of grain production. The RED project allocated 15 000 000 KGS to purchase new tractors, balers, dump trucks, and irrigation equipment that allow to increase efficiency and productivity significantly.
They were in the LLC BBK Group–leader of the VC Poultry farming. The project purchased equipment amounting to 35 000 000 KGS to increase the production of BBK Group including equipment for the automation of chicken coops, 890 sandwich panels and other necessary equipment.
They also visited agricultural production commercial cooperative Termez which is actively developing horticulture, plant growing and livestock farming. The Financial and Credit Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the KR approved the allocation of 20 000 000 KGS from the project (REDP). For the allocated funds they procured apple tree seedlings, drip irrigation system, pump, dump truck and others.
The Regional Economic Development Project is an important step in the development of agriculture in the Kyrgyz Republic enabling sustainable economic growth and improving the living conditions of the local community. These efforts are focused on supporting the small agricultural business, increasing competitiveness and integration in the international market.
