ARIS AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS
ARIS implements projects funded by international organizations and donors to significantly support agricultural development in the Kyrgyz Republic.
These agricultural projects implemented by ARIS aim to comprehensively improve the lives and well-being of rural residents, reduce poverty, and promote economic growth in local communities. The projects’ key focuses include the development and management of pasture resources in the communities amid changing climate conditions, support for value chains, and enhancing local community resilience to climate change. The projects include the Access to Market Project (ATMP), Third Village Investment Project (VIP-3), Agricultural Investments and Services Project (AISP), Pasture and Livestock Management Improvement Project (PLMIP), and Livestock and Market Development Projects 1 and 2 (LMDP 1-2).
Through these projects, ARIS has supported the rehabilitation and modernization of agricultural infrastructure, including bridges, roads, irrigation systems, watering holes, and paddocks on pastures. These improvements have enhanced pasture infrastructure, increased livestock productivity, and improved the living conditions of rural residents. Over 4,000 subprojects, particularly in livestock, have been supported, which have improved infrastructure and food security in the country. This also helped address some of the planned government programs and strategies.
To improve market access and develop the agro-food sector, ARIS implements projects aimed at modernizing agro-enterprises through public-private partnerships. This includes upgrading various equipment and laboratories to ensure product quality and food safety in Kyrgyzstan. ARIS also supports the establishment and development of agricultural cooperatives through grant support, providing them with agricultural machinery (seeders, sprinklers, balers, forage harvesters, crushers, etc.) and breeding livestock to improve the genetic potential of cattle. These activities help develop the material and technical base of agricultural entrepreneurs, farmers, and enterprises.
ARIS contributes to regional economic development by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and promoting the diversification of agricultural products among entrepreneurs and agro-enterprises through small grants for the startup of new enterprises in rural and urban areas. These projects include the development of tourism services and rural entrepreneurship, which provides additional income sources for local residents and entrepreneurs.
ARIS agricultural projects not only facilitate the infrastructure improvement, but also focus on capacity building in personal subsidiary farming, offering skills and knowledge in areas such as canning agricultural products.
The projects implemented by ARIS demonstrate a comprehensive approach to agricultural development in Kyrgyzstan, covering both technological and environmental aspects. This approach enhances sustainability and productivity in the sector, improving the quality of life for rural residents, and supporting regional economic development.
ARIS has significant experience in managing and implementing agricultural projects, especially in social mobilization and capacity building for farmers and community members. ARIS effectively implements projects related to improving agricultural and social infrastructure in rural areas of the Kyrgyz Republic.
