Today, on March 22, many countries around the world celebrate World Water Resources Day, or World Water Day. The purpose of this day is to draw public attention to the state of water resources, problems related to their conservation and rational use.
The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement in Batken and Talas Regions Project (RWSSIP BT) provides support in strengthening the institutional capacity of the water supply sector, sanitation development, including the modernization of sanitation facilities in target schools in Kyrgyzstan. Field specialists of the project conduct trainings for residents of target villages on sanitation and hygiene issues, cooperate with local water supply institutions.
Thus, on the threshold of the Water Resources Day, field staff for sanitation and institutional development carried out a number of activities in target villages with the participation of project beneficiaries. Cultural events were held among the residents, as well as among the participating schools, on the occasion of the World Water Day:
- Kadamjay district, Jenish village, school named after S. Toktogul,humour competition, drawing competitions, cultural events among schoolchildren;
- Manas district, May village, school named after B.Uzenov and school named after Sh.Kochkorbaev,a theatrical performance, a sports event and a dramatization were held among schoolchildren;
- Talas district, Kok-Oy village, school named after K. Momunkulov,drawing competitions, a sports event, a lecture showing videos on the World Water Day were held among schoolchildren.
It should be noted that as a result of the activities carried out within the framework of this topic, the beneficiaries of the project have a complete understanding of the value of water, which is an invaluable resource for everyone and at all times.
