Negotiations on additional financing under the NRWSSDP took place between the official delegations from the Asian Development Bank and the Kyrgyz Republic
On August 7, 2024, negotiations took place between the official delegations of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic (MWRAPP), Director of the Water Resources Service under the MWRAPP – Mr. Sokeev A.T. The Kyrgyz delegation consisted of a representative of the Executive Agency represented by the Deputy Director of the State Institution “Development of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation” under the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture and Agriculture - Ruslan Kasym uulu and a representative of the Implementing Agency represented by the Executive Director of the Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic - Mr. Naspekov M.D..
Drafts of the Loan, Grant and Program Agreements on “Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program - Additional Financing” have been discussed at the negotiations. Additional financing the existing Program is provided in the amount of US$ 38.8 million, out of which US$27.0 million is ADB Loan, US$5.35 million is ADB Grant and US$6.45 million is co-financing by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Currently, the Community Development and Investment Agency (ARIS) of the Kyrgyz Republic is successfully implementing the existing “Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program”, financed by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank. The Program objective is to provide reliable access to safe water supply and improved sanitation for rural settlements in the Naryn region.
The proposed additional funding for the Program will cover residents of villages in the Naryn region, including pre-school and school-age children and users of health care services with a total population - 46,330. The Program implementation will establish favorable conditions for development of settlements in the Naryn region covered by the Program.
