On January 17 -19 of 2024, public hearings to inform the population were held under the NRWSSDP Program in the Naryn region.

The Naryn Rural water Supply and Sanitation Development Program implementation (hereinafter referred to as NRWSSDP/Program) Specialists held public hearings to inform the population in the Zherge-Tal village of the Zherge-Tal Aiyl Aimak, the Kulanak and Uchkun villages of the Uchkun Aiyl Aimak in the Naryn district of the Naryn region.

During the hearings, the Program specialists presented general information on the ongoing Program to the Aiyl Okmotu heads and specialists, Aiyl Kenesh deputies, heads and residents of the above-mentioned villages, they  familiarized them with the NRWSSDP  goals and objectives, the list of villages participating in the Program, as well as  Site-Specific Environmental Management Plans (SSEMP) during construction of water supply systems in the subprojects of the specified villages of the Naryn region. In addition, the participants of the public hearings were presented with ongoing activities on institutional capacity development, sanitation and hygiene, Beneficiary Feedback Mechanism (BFM), environmental and social safeguards, as well as on preparation of design estimates for selected subprojects.

Further, representatives of the Kyrgyzgiprostroy OJSC Design Institute presented to participants a general plan for the future water supply system structure, which was developed for these villages by the design institute under the ongoing Program.

At the end of the public hearings, the SSEMP for the Zherge-Tal, Kulanak and Uchkun villages  and SSEMP Checklists for rehabilitation of internal sanitary facilities in the buildings of kindergartens named after. R. Omurakunova, “Ak-Tilek – Toguz-Bulak”, Family Doctor Group  No. 8 in the Zherge-Tal village and secondary school named after E. Toksobaev in the Uchkun village presented by the NRWSSDP Safeguard Specialist were approved. In addition, the water supply system subprojects for Zherge-Tal, Kulanak and Uchkun villages presented by the Kyrgyzgiprostroy OJSC Design Institute Specialists were approved as well.

At the conclusion of the public hearings, discussions in the form of questions and answers took place. The Program Specialists provided comprehensive answers to all questions of the residents from  the above villages.
