Another public hearings to inform the population under NRWSSDP were held in Ak-Tala, Kochkor and Zhumgal Districts of Naryn Region

On April 23 - 26 of this year, the Specialists of the Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program (NRWSSDP) held public hearings to inform the population and approve Site-specific Environmental Management Plans (SSEMP) for construction of Non-networked local treatment facilities (LTFs) in the following villages: Zherge-Tal (Ala-Buga Ayil Aimak, Ak-Tala District), Isakeev (Ormon-Khan Ayil Aimak, Kochkor District) Lama (Zhumgal Ayil Aimak) and Chaek (Chaek Aiyl Aimak, Zhumgal District) in the Naryn region.

The hearings were attended by AO heads and employees, AA deputies, heads of the above-mentioned villages, representatives of the State Institution of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Development of (SIDWSSD) under the Water Resources Service of the Naryn Region, the ENKON LLC Design Institute, village residents and ARIS NRWSSDP specialists.

The NRWSSDP Specialists presented general information on the Program implementation to the participants of the public hearings, including familiarization of them with the NRWSSDP goals and objectives, and the general list of villages participating in the Program. In addition, ongoing activities on institutional capacity development, sanitation and hygiene, the Beneficiary Feedback Mechanism (BFM), social and environmental safeguards, as well as on the preparation of DED for subprojects were presented there.

During the hearings, Site-specific Environmental Management Plans (SSEMPs) for construction of sewerage networks and local treatment facilities (LTFs) in the subprojects of the above villages were also discussed. The voting was held among the village residents on this issue. The presented plans were approved by a unanimous decision of the villagers.

Upon the completion of these events, discussions in the form of questions and answers took place. The NRWSSDP Specialists gave comprehensive and detailed answers to all questions raised by residents of Zherge-Tal, Isakeev, Lama and Chaek villages.
