CSP AF: Sewing Shop for Felt Products and Garments Opens in Joosh Village

A new facility of for manufacturing hand-felt products and garments was inaugurated in Zhoosh village, Kara-Suu district, Osh region.

The opening ceremony was attended by Hugh Riddell, the World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic; Damira Temirbaeva, Social Development Specialist of the World Bank; Aibek Baltabaev, Head of Joosh Aiyl Okmotu; Mars Naspekov, Executive Director of ARIS; Mayrambek Bayaliev, Project Coordinator; as well as representatives from the World Bank, ARIS, and the local community.

The subproject involved the construction of a new building at a cost of KGS 4,435,212 and the purchase of necessary production equipment for KGS 2,977,288. The facility aims to create new job opportunities for women and youth by organizing the production and sale of products made from local raw materials.

The production plan includes sewing clothes, as well as creating wool carpets and souvenirs. The enterprise's main mission is to produce and sell quality Kyrgyz folk crafts while promoting Kyrgyz craft culture among young people.

Danagul Koshokova, who led the subproject, remarked: “This initiative has significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of the area, creating 15 new jobs. It offers unique opportunities for professional skill development and enhances the quality of life for women and youth.”

This small subproject, funded under the Additional Financing of the Community Support Project, is implemented by the Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic with support from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and financing from the World Bank.
