Groundbreaking ceremony: Start of construction of the Zhashtyk and Zhenish parks in Batken under REDP-2 project
On February 7, 2025, Batken held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of a full-scale reconstruction of the Zhashtyk and Zhenish parks in Batken. This significant step was taken as part of the implementation of the Second Regional Economic Development Project in the Bartken region (REDP-2). This will be a significant landmark in the transformation of the regional infrastructure.
The ceremony was attended by the head of Batken district, U. Jorobaev, mayor of Batken city, I. Burkanov, ARIS Executive Director, M. Naspekov, RED-2 Coordinator, A. Kadyrov and representatives of the local government bodies, contracting organizations and project staff.
During the ceremony, ARIS Executive Director, M. Naspekov, also handed over the following special equipment to the mayor of Batken city, I. Burkanov: rear-loading garbage truck and 222 metal containers that will significantly help to improve the cleaning system of the city.
Batken mayor I. Burkanov expressed deepest gratitude to ARIS for the contribution to the development of Batken city. He noted that the reconstruction of parks will become an important step in the improvement of the living conditions, which will make Batken more suitable and attractive for the guests and residents of the city.
In his speech, D. Naspekov noted that ARIS will continue to implement tasks assigned by the Cabinet of Ministers of the KR. “We will create a modern park with unique facilities, including a skate park, one of the three parks in Kyrgyzstan, an amphitheater, and many other leisure zones. These parks will serve the city and its residents for many years,” said M. Naspekov.
The Second Regional Economic Development Project in the Batken region is funded by the World Bank and is a part of a program of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the improvement of infrastructure and social development of the region. Implementation of the project contributes to the growth and prosperity of the Batken region.
