Experience exchange in the field of Drinking Water Supply System Management took place in Naryn Region
On April 16 – 18 of 2025, an experience exchange in the field of drinking water supply system management took place in Naryn region.
The event was held under the "Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program" funded by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank, and it was attended by employees of Aiyl Okmotu, Municipal Enterprises and Water Committees’ members, as well as initiative groups.
The participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with experience of managing drinking water supply systems constructed and successfully operated in the Zhalgyz-Terek and Zhan-Bulak villages, Naryn district. Local Municipal Enterprises (MEs) conducted a tour on the main water intake structures, provided information on the progress regarding to construction and installation of the water supply system, keeping logs and operating the water supply system, as well as plans for the future. Also, the participants learned about the specifics on connection of the households to the water supply system through water meters procured at the expenses of the local population.
In addition, the results of construction and rehabilitation works on sanitary facilities in the secondary school named after T. Zhutakeev in the Zhan-Bulak village were presented to participants.
At the same time, as part of the event, a meeting with representatives of the Naryn Regional Antimonopoly Service Office of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic was held, where issues have been discussed regarding to setting tariff rates in accordance with the "Procedures for Determining Tariffs for Centralized Drinking Water Supply and Sewerage Services" approved by Resolution No. 320 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated June 19, 2024.
It is worth reminding that the "Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program" is being implemented by the Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic (ARIS). The main objective of the Program is to provide access to safe drinking water supply and improved sanitation for rural residents of the Naryn region, which will be achieved through extension of infrastructure and development of institutional capacity.
