Chairman of the Kyrgyz Parliament (Jogorku Kenesh) reviewed the progress of work on the reconstruction of the facilities in Uzgen city under the RED Project

March 17, 2025, Uzgen city of Osh region. The chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the KR, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu and the members of the Jogorku Kenesh, Ulugbek Ormonov and Elmurza Satybaldiev and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in Osh region, Elchibek Jantaev, visited Uzgen city within the business trip.

Nurlnabek Turgunbek uulu monitored the facilities that are currently being constructed under the Regional Economic Development Project (REDP). The REDP staff reported on the status of work in detail and provided information on the upcoming improvements.

During the visit, they reviewed the progress of the reconstruction of the Orto-Korgon Park and the city stadium of Uzgen city. The new design of the football pitch of the stadium meets FIFA standards. The stadium is designed for 2600 seats. Also, Orto-Korgon Park next to the stadium is being renovated. Today, 60% of the work is complete.

Besides, the pedestrian bridge connecting Orto-Korgon Park with Aznabakiev Tynchtyk Park of Leisure and Culture is also under construction. After the construction is complete, the bridge will become an observation platform to see Uzgen city.

Chairman, after seeing the progress of work on reconstruction and construction of facilities, noted that we have a saying that “Healthy people are a prosperous country”, and to promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen and improve the well-being of people, the country pays particular attention to sports. Sport facilities are being built and renovated not only in the capital city but also in every region of the country. We will continue working to provide every village with sports grounds and halls, noted the chairman, and added that the reconstruction of the central stadium in Uzgen city is one of these examples. 

The Regional Economic Development Project in the Osh region is funded by the World Bank and is a part of a program of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is aimed at improving the living standard of people and developing the social and economic infrastructure of regions.
