The CASA-1000 Community Support Project (CSP) held social accountability activities in target villages of Osh Oblast.
On February 13th, a meeting was held with local community representatives in Shagym village, Kurshab Aiyl Aimak, Uzgen Rayon, Osh Oblast as part of the implementation of Subcomponent 1A, "Support for Improving Energy Supply within Target Villages."
The Aga Khan Foundation Community Engagement and Social Accountability (CESA) Project is ARIS' partner in implementing the CASA-1000 CSP. As CESA Coordinator Kubat Alapaev emphasized today, using social accountability as a tool for interacting with beneficiaries can lead to:
- Improved local community management (including the rational use of social resources and improved utilities, leading to better living conditions for beneficiaries);
- Increased citizen rights and opportunities (including greater access to information about the project and heightened awareness of rights and opportunities);
- New mechanisms for dialogue with beneficiaries throughout the implementation of the CASA-1000 Community Support Project (as interaction between citizens and local governments becomes a regular and ongoing process)."
