The ARIS Executive Director monitored implementation progress of water supply rehabilitation works in Issyk-Kul

Executive Director of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Community Development and Investment Agency Mr. Mars Naspekov accompanied by the Project Coordinator Korchubai uulu Erlan and project team, familiarized himself with works for rehabilitation of the water supply system in Grigor’evka Village as part of his working tour in Issyk-Kul.

The works in this subproject are part of the Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation development Project financed by the World Bank and being implemented by ARIS with the support from the Cabinet of Ministers. The project is aimed to rehabilitation / construction of water supply, sanitation development and institutional capacity enhancement for service providers.

The site visit included review of works for construction of sanitation facilities on 3 floors at the school, septic tank and handwashing sinks as well as water manholes and reservoirs.

Mr. Naspekov also conducted meetings with contractors responsible for civil works emphasizing that all works should bindingly be completed by due dates at high quality level.

The project team reported that it supported the creation and development of municipal water utility service by providing comprehensive assistance including equipment and institutional development.

Upon detailed information on the progress, Mr. Naspekov noted that the team should realize the level of personal liability for work. He underlined that access to safe water and feasible use of natural freshwater systems are critical for human health. In addition, he focused on the significance of the project for improving the development of communities in Issyk-Kul.
