Inauguration of a New Tourist Attraction in Aksy District: Major Turning Point in Economic Development
The Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the opening of the “Ecotourism Development of Lake Kara-Kamysh” sub-project, located in the Kara-Suu Aiyl Aimak of Aksy district, Jalal-Abad Oblast.
The subproject was implemented under the Additional Financing for the CASA-1000 Community Support Project of ARIS, with support from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank.
The official opening ceremony of the tourist facility was graced by M. Sydykov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Jalal-Abad Oblast, Z. Sydykov, Head of Aksy District Administration-Akim, M. Bayaliev, CASA-1000 CSP Coordinator, as well as local businessmen, deputies of Aiyl Keneshs, a delegation from Uzbekistan, and community members.
Initial investments totaled 9,504,000 soms, which facilitated the procurement and transfer of equipment and inventory, including 29 yurts, kitchen utensils, office equipment, and furniture.
“Kyrgyzstan's unique mountain ecosystems have always attracted both local and foreign tourists. However, sustainable ecotourism, a priority sector for our country, requires the development of service and hospitality industries. The “Ecotourism Development of Lake Kara-Kamysh” sub-project will now serve as one of the brightest examples of such an integrated approach. We express our confidence that in the shortest possible time this facility will become one of the leading tourist destinations in Kyrgyzstan,” stated CSP Coordinator M. Bayaliev.
The “Ecotourism Development of Lake Kara-Kamysh” sub-project is designed to be climate-resilient, incorporating plans for solar panels and solar water heaters. As part of the business project's implementation, measures for environmental protection, landscaping, and conservation are also being envisaged.
Notably, “Ecotourism Development of Lake Kara-Kamysh” subproject, as one of the most interesting economic facilities, is expected to significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of Kara-Suu AA by increasing the gross regional product, boosting tax revenues for the local budget, and promoting the development of the Kyrgyz Republic's strategic tourism industry.
