ARIS Executive Director monitored water supply subprojects in Chui
On March 28, 2024 Executive Director of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Community Development and Investment Agency Mr. Mars Naspekov visited the water supply subprojects in Orto-Aryk and Kurpuldok Villages implemented under the Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Project.
During the visit the Project staff reported in details on the works, which included preparation of detailed designs and cost estimates that informed technical options for construction and rehabilitation of critical infrastructure for adequate water supply.
The civil works in the subprojects are scheduled to be completed in 2024 supplying safe drinking water to approximately 3 000 people in the two villages.
Upon review of the progress, Mr. Naspekov empjasized that the project team should clearly recognize the level of liability for works.
“Access to safe water and feasible use of natural freshwater systems are critical for human health. It is extremely important that the works would have been accomplished on due dates and meet high quality standards”, Mr. Naspekov said.
In addition, the project team reported that to ED that it supported the creation and development of municipal water utility service by providing comprehensive assistance including equipment and institutional development.
The civil works in subprojects are part of the World Bank-financed Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Project implemented by ARIS with the support from the Cabinet of Ministers. The project supports rehabilitation / construction of water supply systems, sanitation development and institutional strengthening.
Finally, as part of field visits the ED monitored implementation progress of the Heat Supply Improvement Project highlighting the binding need for ensuring high quality and timely completion of works.
