World Bank Supervision Mission for VIP-3 AF has completed

During 2 days, April 29-30, the WB Supervision Mission for the Additional Financing for the Third Village Investment Project (COVID-19 response), led by Senior Social Development Specialist/ Task Team Leader Mr. Christopher Finch, discussed ongoing progress on the following aspects of project implementation:

- on procurement under the VIP-3 AF;

- social and environmental management activities;

- activities of the Beneficiary Feedback Mechanism and MIS in the context of subproject implementation;

- progress of monitoring and evaluation (including achievement of project indicators).

Detailed information on the activities during the reporting period was provided by subject matter specialists of the VIP-3 AF team. For example, in terms of social and environmental safeguards, when carrying out construction and repair works on subprojects selected by communities as priority ones, large focus is paid to the disposal of toxic waste (fluorescent lamps, asbestos-containing materials-slate). Special commissions chaired by the heads of ayil okmotu are established, the entire disposal process is documented, and companies with appropriate licenses are engaged to carry out this type of work.

To ensure transparency of project activities and effective interaction with beneficiaries, the Beneficiary Feedback Mechanism is actively working. The monitoring and evaluation process were also reviewed, and preliminary recommendations were given based on the results of the visit to Talas and Naryn oblasts. At the same time, it was noted the contribution of AF VIP-3 in supporting persons with disabilities, capacity building of vulnerable groups in the development of business skills related to sources of income.
