The Asian Development Bank Mission was completed
The Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held a wrap-up meeting as part of the Mission under the Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program.
During the Mission, on October 6 - 10, 2025, the ADB representatives visited the Uchkun and Kulanak villages in Naryn District, as well as the Baetovo and Kaiyndy-Bulak villages in Ak-Tala District, where civil works to construct water supply systems are currently ongoing, including rehabilitation of sanitation facilities in the social institutions.
During the final meeting on October 10, 2025, ADB and ARIS representatives discussed completed tasks and outlined next steps aimed at the successful and effective implementation of the Program.
During the meeting, Ms. Gia Heeyoung Hong, ADB Principal Urban Development Specialist (Water and Urban Development Sector Unit, Sector Department 2 (SD2-WUD))/Mission Team Leader, expressed her gratitude for assistance in organizing the workflow during the Mission. She also noted that the Program is being implemented “on track” and at the appropriate level.
During the meeting, it was announced that Ms. Gia Heeyoung is handing over her responsibilities to Ms. Ainagul Amanova, Senior Project Expert, who will oversee the continued implementation of the Program until its successful completion.
ARIS Executive Director Mr. Mars Damirovich Naspekov noted a significant contribution by Ms. Gia Heeyoung to the Program implementation, particularly in raising additional financing, which increased the Naryn region water supply coverage up to 100,000 people, including her initiative in attracting the new investment projects aimed at increasing energy efficiency and improving solid waste management.
Following the meeting, Ms. Gia Heeyoung was awarded the ARIS Honor Award for her significant input to improving sanitary and hygienic living conditions and developing the water supply infrastructure.
The participants expressed their commitments regarding to continuation of active cooperation aimed at achieving priority Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in water supply and ensuring universal and equitable access to safe drinking water.
