The regional conference "The Role of Women in Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change" took place in Jalal-Abad
On May 28, participants from Jalal-Abad Oblast discussed pressing issues related to climate change, including adaptation, mitigation, and the crucial role of women in raising awareness within local communities on these topics.
The conference featured a general session with women activists, including representatives from local self-government bodies, Ayil Kenesh deputies, leaders of public organizations, and representatives from CVIA. Panel discussions covered topics such as "Social and Environmental management," "Hazards associated with climate change and their impact on humans and adaptation," and "Gender development in the implementation of CSP AF."
The conference program also included theatrical improvisations demonstrating practical applications of knowledge and skills in responding to sudden-onset disasters like landslides, mudslides, and earthquakes.
Climate change ambassadors shared best practices from the implementation of climate-sensitive subprojects under CSP AF, highlighting the use of energy-efficient technologies in building and repairing social infrastructure (such as kindergartens, schools, and FAPs), organic farming methods, and ecosystem preservation and management (such as drip irrigation and artificial glacier creation for irrigation).
At the conclusion of the conference, specialists from the relevant fields of CSP AF and the team from ARIS Jalal-Abad office, led by Regional Coordinator S.I. Tokoev, announced the results of a drawing contest among project target communities focusing on climate change issues.
