ADB KYRM Country Director Visited Naryn Oblast
On October 9, 2025, Mr. Zheng Wu, ADB Kyrgyz Resident Mission Country Director, visited Naryn Region as part of media tour organized by Asian Development Bank (ADB) to the sites under the projects financed by the ADB.
During the media tour, Mr. Zheng Wu, along with the ADB team and media representatives, reviewed the progress in terms of completing and commissioning the water supply systems in Ak-Kiya village, Naryn District, Naryn Oblast. Civil works in this village are being carried out as part of the Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program, financed by the Asian Development Bank with the support by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
To date, a 90-m deep borehole has been drilled and a pump was installed at 60-m depth. A 25 m3 water tower has also been installed. A bactericidal unit to disinfect the water was installed. For water treatment, the special treatment equipment has been installed in the bactericidal unit building. The village water supply network makes 6.4 km. Forty-eight wells have been installed along the distribution network, each containing a manifold for household connections.
During the media tour, participants were getting familiarized with the specifics of the Program implementation, the ultimate benefits for Naryn region residents, and as well as they met with direct beneficiaries.
The Program, implemented by the Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic, covers 43 villages in the Naryn region. Following the Program implementation, over 100,000 people in the region will have access to improved water sources, and the proportion of the population using safe water supply services will be increased. In addition, sanitary facilities will be rehabilitated in a number of preschools, schools and healthcare institutions, and pilot households will be connected to local wastewater treatment facilities.
