On February 8-16 of 2024, trainings on the topic “Development of Economically Justified Tariffs for Water Supply Services” were held in seven villages of the Naryn region under the NRWSSDP.

The main goal of the trainings conducted Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program (NRWSSDP) is to improve the qualifications of specialists from municipal enterprises (MEs) and water committees, Aiyl Okmotu representatives, Local Kenesh deputies and village activists.

During the trainings, participants were given presentations on the methodology for calculation of tariffs for drinking water supply services; basic formulas for tariff calculations; determining net-cost, profitability and profit distribution; based on the methodology for determining the tariff (prices) for paid services. In addition, practical exercises on calculating tariffs in Excel and practical work in groups on tariff calculation were conducted.

Upon the completion of trainings, participants were presented with successful stories on economically sustainable and profitable operation of water supply enterprises.

When summing up the training results, ME representatives were recommended to submit the calculated tariffs for drinking water and relevant necessary documents on them to the Naryn Regional Department of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service for approval; field Institutional Development Specialists of NRWSSDP gave comprehensive answers to all questions by the participants.

The trainings were held in the following villages: Zhergetal (Ak-Tala district), Tosh-Bulak, Ak-Kiya, Orto-Saz, Oruk-Tam, Zhalgyz-Terek and Zhan-Bulak (Naryn district) in Naryn region, in accordance with approved programs.
