World Bank Supervision Mission for the VIP-3 AF has visited the Talas oblast

The focus of the World Bank Mission, led by Mr. Christopher Finch, Senior Social Development Specialist/ Task Team Leader, is to familiarize with a number of subprojects of VIP-3 AF.

Following the working visit to the target areas, the project's contribution to the results of rehabilitation and construction of social facilities would be analyzed in terms of benefits for direct and indirect beneficiaries. Among them, we would like to mention the improvement of social infrastructure and accessibility of services.

Thus, on April 25, the completed subproject "Improvement and heat insulation of building #2 of Chaldovar gymnasium school named after D. Batyrbashiyev" located in Min-Bulak AA of Bakai-Ata rayon of Talas oblast was reviewed.  It was noted that the total cost of this SP was 1,957,216 KGS, energy efficient technologies were applied during implementation.

During the inspection of the SP "Repair of school named after B. Myrzabayev " in Cholponbai village of Cholponbai AA, residents noted that this subproject was identified by focus groups as a priority, as well as gained the highest number of votes in online voting during social mobilization. According to the residents, this is a vivid confirmation of the project's contribution to improving the efficiency of local self-governance through active citizen engagement in the project implementation. The actual implementation of the SP started in December 2023 and work is currently ongoing.

The project team under the leadership of VIP-3 AF Coordinator M. Dosuev showed the members of the World Bank Mission the activities of the facilities that contribute to improving the economic situation of the population of Talas oblast. For example, within the framework of the Livelihoods Support Program of the AF VIP-3, the following subprojects were implemented here:

- "Procurement of equipment for a dumpling production shop" subproject in village Mini-Bulak of Bakai-Ata AA. The advantage of this subproject on meat processing is that this village is located along the Talas-Taraz motorway, now upon passing the required analyses at local slaughterhouses, residents could supply cattle meat to the dumpling shop, thereby obtaining economic benefits;

- "Establishment of a meat processing shop (sausage shop)" subproject in Mayskoye village of Manas rayon also promotes the development of meat processing industry, with 70 % of the villagers engaged in livestock breeding. In addition, new jobs have been created, tax revenues to the local budget are ensured, etc.
