Head of the country office of the World Bank in Kyrgyzstan monitored the social and tourism facilities in Osh supported by the Regional Economic Development Project

As part of his business trip to Osh, the head of the office of the WB in Kyrgyzstan Hugh Riddle jointly with the Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist Tolkun Jukusheva and ARIS Executive Director M. Naspekov reviewed the progress of ongoing interventions fulfilled under the Regional Economic Development Project. The project is implemented by the Community Development and Investment Agency with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic with financial support from the World Bank.

During the trip, the representatives of the WB and ARIS met with the contracting organizations and inspected the work fulfilled in the social facilities aimed at the improvement of the urban infrastructure and tourism:

1. Reconstruction of the central square of Osh city;

2. Repair of the T. Satylganov summer theater.

Work in these subprojects is targeted to improve urban infrastructure and public spaces to create a comfortable and safe environment for residents and guests.

They also visited the surrounding territory of the Osh National Drama Theater named after S. Ibraimov which was completed and renovated under the project and discussed the plans and prospects for the reconstruction of the Sulaiman-Too Cave Museum.

Hugh Riddle noted the efforts taken to the development of infrastructure and supporting cultural heritage in the region, emphasizing that the projects promote economic growth and improve the well-being of the local population.
