ARIS participated in the Central Asian Regional Forum on Gender Equality Policy Reform
The large-scale event took place in late March, with an offline format for Uzbekistan and an online format for Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, under the patronage of the World Bank.
The forum was attended by E. Surabaldieva, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic; Ms. Varalakshmi Vemuru, Practice Manager for the Social Sustainability and Inclusion (SSI) Global Practice in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Region at the World Bank, Ms. Damira Temirbaeva, Social Development Specialist\Co-Task Team Leader of the World Bank Mission Task Team; and Ms. N. Abdybekova, CSP AF Livelihoods Specialist, and Ms. B. Dzhumaeva, CSP AF Gender Development Specialist at the Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic.
ARIS shared its insights on the topic: "Women's Economic Empowerment and Women's Voice: Lessons Learned from World Bank Projects (experience of VIP-3 AF and CSP AF)."
Participants at the forum also discussed reforms aimed at ending gender-based violence and explored opportunities for regional cooperation among Central Asian states.
