ARIS: Agricultural sector is the main direction of economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic

Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic informs that the agency continues to assist in the development of the agricultural sector through the Regional Economic Development Project in the Osh region and Osh city to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic,

On February 15, 2023, the ceremony of transferring cattle to the Commodity-Service Agricultural Commercial Cooperative “Chon-Alai-Baly” took place. In total, it is planned to purchase 180 heads of yaks, of which 100 heads are currently delivered to the Chon-Alai district of the Osh region and transferred to the cooperative.

The ceremony was attended by M. Aliyaskarov, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sh. Zh First Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Osh region, M. Naspekov Executive Director of ARIS, A. Kadyrov Coordinator of REDP-1, and representatives of other local governments.

During the ceremony, the delegation headed by M. Aliyaskarov got acquainted with the work of the Commodity and Service Agro-Commercial Cooperative “Chon-Alai-Baly”, located in the village of Dootkorgon of the Chon-Alai district. Representatives of the cooperative said that at the moment there are 120 yaks, however, thanks to the REDP project, the number of yaks will increase to 300. Also, 15 new jobs were created additionally.

ARIS Executive Director M. Naspekov congratulated the representatives of the cooperative on this significant event and noted that the agricultural sector is a backbone element of the Kyrgyz economy and the standard of living of people in the country depends on its development.

M. Naspekov wished prosperity to the cooperative and expressed his confidence that soon, the cooperative Chon-Alai-Baly will become a well-deserved representative of the agricultural sector of Kyrgyzstan.

Chon-Alai-Baly Cooperative was founded in 2018 and started its activity with 1,000 beehives. By 2023, the number of hives increased to 3,000 and produced 30 tons of extracted honey, of which 6.5 tons were exported to Qatar.
